Joan Farrell Mathis cookies

Mrs. Fay got the most adorable Joan Farrell Mathis cookies for the tea shower in New Orleans a few weekends ago.  It was heaven!  One of these days I am going to try and replicate these almond cookies.  Any ideas for where I should start?  The cookies are so thin and heavenly - with crunchy sweet icing.  Perfect!
