William Kamkwamba

On Friday I was lucky enough to hear William Kamkwamba talk. It was incredible. I left feeling very inspired by what he accomplished against all odds. He has recently written a book "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" which is next on my list.

"At age 14, in poverty and famine, a Malawian boy built a windmill to power his family's home. Now at 22, William Kamkwamba, who speaks at TED, here, for the second time, shares in his own words the moving tale of invention that changed his life." - TED

"Trust yourself and believe. Whatever happens, don't give up." - William KamKwamba

Another favorite quote (from his appearance on the Daily Show): "Do you know the internet? I don't know the internet. Do you know Google? What animal is Google? And then they said you can Google everything.... Ok let's Google windmill then. When I Googled windmills, I found that there was millions of applications. I was like where was this Google all this time?" - William Kamkwamba

I wish William nothing but the best - he certainly deserves it.
